Eh wait..This is already 15 July =_=
I'm too late to make yearly journal...
But better late than never..
The Art Journey of Vusiuz - Part 1 *When i was 5 years old,my mind was captured by a shape of a scissor and its bright green color...
so i traced it and color it,about 12 scissors with 12 colors, yeah, i used 12 colors snowman marker back then, my style consist of abstract geometrical from objects around me...
*5-8, I rarely draw, but i read so many mangas, especially doraemon and other Fujiko.F.Fujio mangas,
my style heavily influenced by them...and this time i usually drew many magical tools and kid's doodles, like a triangle headed stickman, round giant whale,flying box with chicken feet,man eater kaiju etc...they were so surreal but it was very fun...i wish i can go back into that time, when my imagination was still very wild!
*8-10, I made some friends with the same hobby, still heavily influenced by Fujiko F.Fujio + lego...
yes, i play lego and created many thing using that, i made a book that contains many magical tools doodle, it is similar to catalog, but with a children do

After coming back from a vacation, i started this january with a productivity..

After some heartbreaks, i decided to mve on quickly and focusing on my works, Marooned project,
I commute using a bus in the morning and evening for work,
while in the bus i randomly draw something like these using my cellphone:
in this month i also do commision,
and did a 3D character workshop to
teach internship students on my office:
Other than that, my 1st month in 2016 is somewhat nearly stable
*February 2016, Distraction from a missing things...
Actually i'm not that stable, i start to miss someone who made me broken hahaha...
At this state, art is not enough to soothe my mind...because i trapped in a demonic loop

To cope with that, i decide to travel around my city Jakarta, bringin my cellphone, and take pictures...

Unexpectedly, i also commissioned someone, an artist,
who inspired me with his art...

In this 2nd month, i became very productive...The reason is simple...
Make myself so busy, so i could move on and forget my problems lol...

*March 2016, Meet an unexpected old friends..
I segemented this month into 3 phases,
at the early of the month,
i honed my photographic skill in office
and did a commission like usual
(this one made me learning particle effects again)
and did some traveling again while taking photos...
(actually a date with tinder match,but i prefer to take a pic of panorama LOL)
in the middle of the month,
i must learn Maya on my office
Didn't understand how to use it,
and nobody teach me how to render...
thanks to Youtube for teaching me...
and also make some workshops too

After i come back from Belitung, i was involved in a project for gas company...
and in this project, we made many alternative of mascot...
(this bunny above was made by my friend)
actually, that gas company want to open their factory on the seashore,
they want to make fishermens love them...
I made something like this when i thought of fishermen...
and brutally rejected lol...
So i made a 3D from that crappy-rejected design
if this thing become a real mascot, i bet fishermen's childrens
would cry and don't want to go to the sea anymore...

with very small,traditional fishing boat, in a raining hard weather...
it was a near death experience, because the boat tilting more than 45 degree and the water already touching my hands...
(the effects was exciting and also devastating lol)

so...it started my hobby as landscape photo mapper? lol..
this month,I went to Semudun and Pontianak..
(it is a remote village in the seashore, but the culinary is good and the people in there are nice)

I have some free time after finishing Marooned, so i tried to learn it...

Yeah, because freelance is paid...who want to waste a chance to get more money?
In this month, i only added some characters for Jitenclock,
I also found a consistent size for gif presentations
Then suddenly my routinity become hectic, and in that stress...these thing was born...
I feel like animal...animal...animal...ahahahahaha....
These are fast modeling-rigging animation that take no more than 3-4 hour to finish
And now i'm working in this Chinese new Year Game asset

In this month, i worked in a game development named Poka-Poka, but the developer is like
"we dunno what we made, so please help us to improve the graphic"

*March 2015, Sketch style!
Like February...i doesn't have any significant thing to do..maybe i had it, but i forgot what project i did, the game development was cancelled, they never contacted again...and they like doesn't know what they made...so in this month, i spent it to sketch sketch something...and i decided, to not only did random sketch, but a series of sketch with theme...so i make a sketch of "Jitendrium Weapons" that i decided to model later for my Jitenclock Characters.

In my office, i got a duty to become a compositor too, it mean i would have to face color grading, video compositing, editing, effects etc...
but the job wasn't come at all..so i use that time to learn about effects...

June was so so unproductive, i realized that i didn't made anything useful that month, so in this month, i must do something!!
I started to learn 3D modeling tools that i hate very much...Zbrush...
The target is "Create cute sculpt in Zbrush!"
and these abominations was born..
Left is the target...Right is the thing made by me...
i flipped table once again for Zbrush and back to coordinate traditional modeling...
And i have an idea inspired from DOTA2 and Monster Rancher 2 character preview...
to make some turnaround of my Jitendrium Clockwork characters

*November 2015, Devastating Data lost
In this month, My Hard drive..got attacked by a malware because i tried to download an android games from untrusted sites...
It installed some weird thing on my pc...destroyed my system...and made my Hard drive exploded...
I backed up my newest data on dropbox...But some important old datas are lost...because the back up drive is only a partition in the same drive...
I lost my Jitendrium clockwork game, i lost my undergreen story project, and i lost all my works before 2015...
If i meet the malware creator, i will throw them into the meat mincer...GROAAAAAAA
Luckily, i sometimes bring my data to office, so some data are saved,and some small biweekly update in dropbox also helped...
and this month...
i only do commishes and marooned (animation process)

My Yearend month are spent to make Marooned...and prepared for my pseudo hoenymoon with my partner

I spent my New year with my partner family in Bali...We also spent our time together,
just 2 of us to go to Mountains, Temples, and many other beautiful places...
Her family is very warm and welcomed me (her sister is my friend too) ,
i enjoyed the holiday with Her...

And i done random animation to teach my students..
I hope this year will become a better year for my career as an artist,
because i decided that i will quit art if i haven't get a success at 2017,
And become a culinary business guy and come back into mu home...
i life in a rent room, and never come back home, only back if urgent things happened,
my family doesn't understand art,and it seems they would never understand, so i feel i doesn't belong there...
I belong here...thank to you all..you all give me a duty and an encouragement to chase my dream...
I also hope it will become a year that will give us a new experiences to level up mentally and materially
Thus..i hope it would be a good year to get a new partner,then get a happy ending + escaped friendzone trap *eh..ahahaha
And escaped the sugar and caffeine addiction...
And in this journey, i want to thanks to some artist that inspire and helped me directly or indirectly,
their artworks or attitude influenced me when i searching for my art style and meaning of my life

Hi,I am Vusiuz and i am back with my once a year journal

The Art Journey of Vusiuz - Part 1 *When i was 5 years old,my mind was captured by a shape of a scissor and its bright green color...
so i traced it and color it,about 12 scissors with 12 colors, yeah, i used 12 colors snowman marker back then
*5-8, I rarely draw, but i read so many mangas, especially doraemon and other Fujiko.F.Fujio mangas,
my style heavily influenced by them...and this time i usually drew many magical tools and kid's doodles, like a triangle headed stickman, round giant whale,flying box with chicken feet,man eater kaiju etc...they were so surreal but it was very fun...i wish i can go back into that time, when my imagination was still very wild!
*8-10, I made some friends with the same hobby, still heavily influenced by Fujiko F.Fujio + lego...
yes, i play lego and created many thing using that, i made a book that contains many magical tools doodle, it is similar to catalog, but with a children do
Okay, shut the chit chat and i will review my year 2014 Art journey
After creating 2D to 3D, decided to make a 3d short animation...the one that i planned in Australia...
So i tried to experiment with the main character...
From concept sketch,this is my old OC, but i lost his data and only found this one...
omgwtf so small...and i created him back..into the one above
i tried chibi, but it is so lame after i tested it for fighting animation, it can't be epic battle...it become an adorable battle,chibi limbs are too short...as a result, i change his proportion into a battle-fit proportion, test some effect etc...tweak the proportion more,add some concept to made it more unique,then i revised it become this
*February 2014, Broke Because i didn't had a job
I cannot go back to Australia because of budget problem and my mom don't want to add more debt to pay my education there. As a result, i lost my job and my plan changed. Then, i started to search for money from freelances.
This one is my first freelance in 2014
Beside that, i also did a children book project with my girlfiend,thanks to it,the money from that was enough to keep me live for a month
Not only freelances, i also did some experimental-improvement for my Skybreaker Project.

*March 2014, The Depression Month
I have a debt to my girlfriend to keep living, and then suddenly she became rarely replied my chat,often ignore me, she also said she didn't have a time to walk together with me again because she is too busy with her job
Because of that,i become very lonely and depressed, then i decided to pour all of these depressions to art, i watched Jamin Shoulet texturing workshop on Youtube (you must watch it, it will increase your ability tremendously)

In the middle of March, my girlfriend still didn't have a good communication with me, she was like avoiding me...she didn't want to meet me,sge said she was very busy, but in her social media account, she look like having fun and also can walk with another guy..yeah...cant go out with me but can go hangout with another..aah skip it..
that make me more and moree depressed, and i saw a job vacancy from a game studio on Facebook, some of my friend work in there. I also in my way on experimenting lowpoly texturing, so i think if i work, i will get many benefits like have a monthly salary, improve my game production skills on there, and also cure my loneliness
So i made this demoreel:
I was accepted in there (after almost rejected),and will start to work on April...with a big hope!
Also i got a big relationship problem, My GF said that her parents don't want me to be her BF...because of racial and culture difference...and any other factor,maybe like jobs or money...aah skip that..
*April 2014, A Suicidal Month
I work in that korean game company, at first i have a very big hope there, in my second day i was tested to make something and tried some new softwares...
Then after a long communication absence..My GF asked...
"Could we end this?"
"Could we end this?"
Yeah it hurts very much, after a loong loong friendship and relationship, she end it just like that and keep ignoring me...like a stranger...
thankfully, friends in my new office are friendly...they help me to contain my suicidal plans...Except..these bosses...they are bastard, i was very hard to communicate with them because they can't speak english or indonesian fluently, they are like forcing me to understand korean...and also the salary is not as much as they said in the vacancy, so i smell some scam in here...after 2 weeks...i got fired because something i didn't understand...1 of the supervisor keep angry at me using korean language...and also explaining 3d thing using sign language...if i didn't understand, he will be mad...wtf dude...i dont even understand the office pipeline and now they mad at me using some sign language...they also said "You must be cheating on your reel!!"
However, they still paid me, i got some new texturing techniques and also friends (plus cure my depression a little)

*May 2014, Recovery Attempt
After i got fired, heartbroken , and also feel fail at anything , nobody cares, and i feel worthless,
But luckily my friend give a project to help her on her final, that is enough to give me a hope to life again, i feel needed
,I feel that she is a precious friend to me because she save my life, indirectly

Beside that project, i also got many other projects like rigging and animate, that give me more reason to live, and also give me money to keep alive.
Other than freelancing,in this month, i also make some experimental projects, motivated by these previous bastard bosses that said i am cheating on my reel, i try to make some chibi characters, with new texturing method i got from there and my previous skills combined..

*June 2014, My life get better,but still trying to move on
I got some money to life from freelances, my friend recommend me to her friends, my other junior also give me some projects.I enjoy it very much, beside they distract me from gloomy heartbroken mood, they also give me money and a reason to life + portfolios..ohohohohoho

*July 2014, Moving on
After about 2 months, i lost contact with my ex, she treat me like a stranger and my friend also trolling me by send me some pic with another men..so i decided to move on and deleting anything about her..(not all tho..ahahahaha)
In this month i became busy with some freelances, so i dont have time to create 3D. In addition, i played some games too...I also hanging out with a junior, she helped me so much in on the process ahahahahah...
In this month i only make some potrait drawing to test my drawing ability...
I have some problem in digital painting, it only good if i love the thing i draw...and usually...girl...

*August 2014, Got a new job
In this month i got some freetime in the beginning, then i got accepted as a staff on my university
Other than my once a year journal, i also have an once a year WIP...(heavy procrastination)
After i watched transformer 4,i was inspired to continued my robot wip
Influenced by the Anubis style above, i combined it with my chibi characters and re-rendered them...
*September 2014, Stable Life
After is have a job, my life is getting better, no more extra expenses for other people etc.
Because i posted my works last month on facebook,
a client ask me to make a chibi 3d mascot for a cheese product and
in my office i made some character design for a local band rebranding (pitching)
and for the experiment, because i am not animating for from June,so i start to animate again...
to prevent sense dullness
*October 2014, Back to Animation
Some internship students at my office do animation very well, even they are just know animation for a months.
As a result, i am challenged to do better than these kids i supervise. And by a chance, there was a submission entry for an animation festival opened that time. These intern students are given task to join it as a representative of our office.
I also joined, but not as a representative
My idea of animation is from sinetron, or soap opera in my country, and it is stereotipically bad and lame. I have and ide to combine that lameness with my animation style to create a new style.

The reason i made this is just because i am inspired by stickman animations on this site
I want to make a combo using my characters,but because or the lazyness and business...

*November 2014, More Consistent to my style
I saw my old work...and i like it style very much...
So I decided to use that style again, with some new improvement...
Then after almost 1 years exploring, i found my consistent style, yeah!
So i reworked my old characters, give them a background story and weapons.

Thus "Jitendrium Clockwork" was born!
"Jitendrium Clockwork" or shortly "Jitenclock" is an improved concept of the Skybreaker,but with clearer, and connected storyline.
At first i decided to make it into a short weekly animation, but it seems not possible because of my routinity. So i decided to make it into webcomic.
*December 2014, Business and Holiday
Because many works to do, in this month i rarely make some artworks.
I only made these:
It is a character that i decided to be a cannon fodder,replacing the flame golem, and also an fanart of rwby again using a new style...
Then surprisingly LINE held a webtoon contest, by any chance i was also have a plan to make a webcomic, so i create this for the entry.
I lost any good ideas...so i went to do vacation to my village, Kuala Kapuas
I ended my 2014 with a bunch of ideas

After coming back from a vacation, i started this january with a productivity..
Unfortunately i didn't met the LINE webtoon deadline because i prioritize my freelance than it...
Yeah, because freelance is paid...who want to waste a chance to get more money?
In this month, i only added some characters for Jitenclock,
I also found a consistent size for gif presentations
Then suddenly my routinity become hectic, and in that stress...these thing was born...
I feel like animal...animal...animal...ahahahahaha....
These are fast modeling-rigging animation that take no more than 3-4 hour to finish
And now i'm working in this Chinese new Year Game asset

the story of an ordinary employee, who accidentally drink an experimental drug called "Beast Drink", he became a super powered human,who only use trouser as his clothes, his enemies are aliens,failed experimental product,power klenjers,thunderman,dark lord, monsters,bastard ticks,etc...it consist of 5 books, 80-120 page per book, full of imagination and parody,also imagination...
Unfortunately, these books lost in a flood and borrowed by my friend...i dunno where it is now...
*12-17,i dont have a friend who likes to draw, so i rarely draw in this moment...
i started to read other author manga beside Fujiko F.Fujio, i watch Mazinger,Gaiking,Guyverd,Jiban,Bicrosser,Metalder, etc, my drawing changed into robots...and mechanical weapon, and i only draw on the exam sheet....i also play PSX game like Final Fantasy and Xenogear,almost all of my game was Squaresoft games and what i watch is digimon & pokemon (i like digimon more)...and it was also influenced my style, i draw monsters...machina monsters
*17-18,i met the internet, and i involved in a online game named "Getamped"...
the fighting game that give you a facility to create your own characters....
i created almost 300 characters in that game...i met many friends,many client, and i realized that i had a passion to create characters and want to see it move...alive! in that game, i saw many of my characters was used by my clients..it made me happy
I also made some animations for the forum avatar, and emoticons...
My style in this stage was 3D chibis...and i drew mo rarely...because i made these directly in the computer...i also influenced by anime like yuyu hakusho,yat,flame of recca,gundam,etc..As a result,my works become more anime-ish...
*2008 - 2009, i enrolled to the university,Animation major...
after about 6 years of drawing hiatus...i forced to draw again...in this 1st and 2nd semester, my drawing style was like reset to zero...
but i cope quickly, because it was a must, i learn new theory, and my friend is all art people...so they influence me heavily, in this stage, i was also very gloomy person, so almost all of my arts have a dark sensasion to it...
in this stage, my arts are consist of abstract art, and made using mixed medias...
*2009, i focused on digital arts..
because my computer lesson was already starting that semester,my medium and artworks also changed into digital...and i enjoy it because it is cheaper
But most of them are dark themed and consist of photo manipulations...
*2010, i focused on animation and 3d things...
Last semester in just a introduction for the animation lesson,in this stage my arts made up by 3d things and animation, also videos..
a rarely draw 2D, because 1 of my lecturer said : "Your drawings are suck, they are too messy", and my score always below B...that make me think that my 2D drawing is suck and i focused more on 3D...
*2011,i became even more focus in 3d things...
my 3d skill has leveled up from last year..even work for internship this year...but i still dont have a unique style...i also made some cg effects..
In this stage, my 3d art start with chasing realism + mechanical things,but it take long time to render, because my pc is an old pc...so i start to explore toon shader render more...and after that i watch Usavich,it is very cuutee....
so my style influenced by it and i Started-to change my artwork image from a gloomy-dark into cute-adorable...it was hard...
*2012,final assignment...
it come into my last year in university...and i must done some final assignment this year...
at 1st, i want to create some dark comedy with this style...
But my lecturer didn't agree with that theme, and i was forced to made a cute-animal-animation...aand...it change my style into these..
My style became cute animals-2D render style....because of this one,i found my love in 2d render,
I cant draw properly, but i want to make 2d animations...i only can create 3d..why not both? 3d animation with toon looks...
*End of 2012 until middle of 2013...i was work at animation studio again...
While in there, i work as 3d artist, mainly as animator, but i also work as compositor and renderer for "Bayusekti Movie Project" ...
My artwork was not improved because i work for my job in this stage...for other people...what is improved is my compositing and animation skills..
*Middle of 2013..I left from animation studio...
Then i have some free time there...but i somewhat bored with 3D,and try to active more in Deviantart...and i try to draw 2D...back to traditional..
so after that i make some more doodle...using digital media to improve and searching for a style...

by watching some artist that i like, and try to add some element from their art that i like,glow,crosshatch,proportions,coloring,brushing,etc..And of course, still aiming for a cute style...but i still think it was not cute...

Then..i went to Australia...in there, i dont have 3D nor 2D, i dont have pc,etc...then i realized...that i can use my phone to draw..so in this stage, i draw using my cellphone...and...it is the 1st time my friend said that i can draw a cute thing...

After creating 2D to 3D, decided to make a 3d short animation...the one that i planned in Australia...
So i tried to experiment with the main character...

omgwtf so small...and i created him back..into the one above
i tried chibi, but it is so lame after i tested it for fighting animation, it can't be epic battle...it become an adorable battle,chibi limbs are too short...as a result, i change his proportion into a battle-fit proportion, test some effect etc...tweak the proportion more,add some concept to made it more unique,then i revised it become this
*End of January,2014..i draw again...
I realized that my drawing become too messy, the background and the character is out of control...so,i tried to make the bg more plain,paper...
But then i think it is to plain, so i come back to colored BG...
